Yolo Food Bank (YFB) partners with 60 local non-profit agencies with a mission to alleviate hunger and malnutrition in Yolo County. YFB’s partner agencies include pantries, transitional housing, soup kitchens, after-school programs, group homes, and family resource centers that all play an important role in hunger relief. This month, we would like to shine the spotlight on one of our partner agencies, Cache Creek Lodge (CCL), located in Woodland, CA.
Cache Creek Lodge was established on April 17, 1974 by Hugh and Fran Cameron and was first located on County Rd. 96B near the town of Yolo, CA. It was later relocated to 435 Aspen Street in Woodland, CA. CCL was created with the mission to facilitate individual rehabilitation and community reintegration of men and women struggling with alcoholism and drug abuse with guidance, education and compassionate support.
CCL offers a wide variety of services and programs to meet their mission. These include a residential program, transitional sober living program and an aftercare program. Cache Creek Lodge utilizes a social model based on the 12-Step program and addresses a client’s comprehensive needs. Clients receive individual and group counseling, cognitive therapy, life skills and employment training, temporary housing, recreational activities and assistance accessing public and community based health and social services.
The relationship with YFB has allowed CCL to provide their residential clients nutritional balanced meals three times a day. Due to this assistance from YFB, they are also able to provide funds to our other services for clients such as recreational activities, an upcoming computer lab and will allow them to host other substance abuse programs at their site for sober activities, such as volley ball games and BBQ’s.
CCL is planning a Spaghetti Feed Fundraiser this summer that will invite the community to support their agency. They hope to also build a computer literacy lab to help teach clients hands-on skills for basic survival in today’s technological world. The focus will be on Microsoft Office programs, development of resumes, and housing and job search.
Cache Creek Lodge can benefit from increased support from the community. If you would like to donate or know more about the CCL programs, contact them at:
